Foraging in Ireland

Foraging is a deep rooted tradition in Ireland. As an Island nation we are surrounded by the sea and coastal foraging has long been a common pastime. From mussels to winkles to wild edible plants, there are many unique wild foods to discover in Ireland. Chefs and cooks like to experiment with locally produced foods and there is no better produce than the plants that grow in their natural environment.

When to go foraging in Ireland?

This depends on your favourite season. Every month brings with it something new to find. In April you will be delighted with the scent of wild garlic, in summer time the edible flowers are in full bloom, in Autumn the mushrooms start to appear and in winter we use our wild goods and make some delicious wild teas and syrups.
