What to Expect
On this fruit filled adventure you will be following the Olive Oil greenway markings of the region. The region of Andalucia is worth exploring in all of it’s glory. Famous for traditional flamenco, ancient castles, tapas culture and bullfights.
This charming area of the Iberian Peninsula is the perfect location for our tour of the olive groves. It’s great monuments and castles are magnificent sites to discover. From easy walking paths to delicious food, you will have the adventure of a lifetime in this part of Spain.
Enjoy strolling through the narrow streets and learning all about the history of olive oil production in the region before you embark on your journey along the olive oil route. Visit Saint Catherine’s castle, the beautiful Cathedral and be sure to taste the famous rice puddings.
Setting out from Jaen you will follow the greenway markings passing olive groves all along the way. Now you are in the heart of olive oil production in Spain. Martos is renowned as the largest producer of oil in the whole country. Enjoy some delicious tapas as your evening treat.
Cycling through a tunnel to leave the town we make our way to the Salado River. Enjoy the sights of gigantic viaducts and rolling hills bursting with olives all the way to Alcaudete. Enjoy exploring the historic sites and moorish castle of this town.
In the morning head to the old town square to browse some market stalls. Today you will pass the Laguna Honda Nature Reserve with interesting vegetation to admire. Have a picnic stop by the Laguna del Salobral and enjoy spotting the unique species of birds. Cabra is the perfect rural town for some relaxation after your cycle.
Visit some of the Baroque churches before you leave the town. Your last day on the trails is filled with olive groves and easy cycling. Taste the traditional Andalusian dishes when you arrive in Puente Genil.
