Check the farm before planning the tradition
Many tree farm outings take place from late November into December, but each farm sets its own dates and may sell out. Confirm whether the offer is choose-and-cut, staff-cut or a pre-cut sales area; these are different experiences.
Our Christmas tree crop category is ready for listings but is not yet a verified catalogue of local tree farms. Find and confirm visits through official grower information; we will not fill the directory with invented places.
Measure twice, choose once
Measure ceiling height and available width, allowing for the stand and topper. Check the trunk diameter your stand accepts. A tree can look smaller outdoors, so take measurements to the farm.
Species differ in shape, needle feel and keeping characteristics. Ask the grower which suits your space and how it has been handled. Freshness and watering matter as well as the species name.
Bring the right things and follow staff rules
Wear sturdy shoes, gloves and weather-appropriate clothes. Bring a tape measure and confirm which cutting tools, netting and loading help the farm supplies. Only cut where authorised; keep children clear of cutting and loading.
Follow safety instructions, including eye protection where required. Do not bring a chainsaw unless explicitly allowed and you are qualified to use it. A visitor experience is not a place to improvise cutting methods.
Get it home safely
Secure the tree appropriately for your vehicle without obstructing visibility, lights or registration plates. Ask staff for loading advice and use suitable restraints. At home, put it in a water-holding stand promptly and keep it away from heat.
Questions before you go

How much does a real tree cost?
