What makes a Taste Trail

  • Hands in the harvest.

You pick, forage, tread, press or catch something yourself.

  • Meet the maker.

At least one stop is hosted by the producer, not a guide talking about them.

  • Eat it where it grew.

The main meal is on the farm, at the quay or among the vines.

  • One moment you'll remember.

A rabelo boat on the Douro, oil straight from the press, a dark sky over the Atlantic.

  • A walk between tastes.

Every trail has a stretch on foot or by bike, so the landscape is part of the meal.

  • True to the season.

Every trail tells you what's ripe right now, and when to come back.

Why Taste Trails

I built the first Taste Trails years ago, by hand, long before anyone was asking AI where to eat. The idea came from walking the Camino. The best moments were never the monuments. They were the farm gate where someone handed you a fig, the bar that poured that morning's Albariño, the harbour where the boats were still unloading. Taste Trails puts those moments together on purpose: one hands-on taste, one maker and one long table, every day.

  • Foraging

Shoreline seaweeds, hedgerow berries, wild garlic and truffles, gathered with people who know what is safe to pick and what to leave.

  • Fruit picking

Berries in Fingal, cherries in Kent, oranges in Valencia and Sóller, grapes in the Douro. Pick it ripe and taste it on the spot.

  • Wine & cider

Vineyard walks, harvest days and cider barns, hosted by the growers and makers themselves.

  • Sea & shore

Mussel rafts, oyster sheds, harbour grills and rock pools: the sea side of the table.

  • Stars & suppers

Long seafood suppers followed by some of Europe's darkest skies, in Kerry, the Alentejo and the Costa Brava.

  • Olive harvest

From October to December, join the olive harvest in Puglia and the Alentejo and taste oil straight from the press.
